Causes of WW I

They were main cause to the beginning of WWI is the assassination of Franz Ferdinand . He was assassinated by a Serbian who was part of the black hand clan. The alliance system collapsed so it was like a big domino effect. When Austria-Hungry declared war on Serbia all of the Serbians allies declared war on Austria. On July 29, Russia ordered a army only against Austria-Hungary to help Serbia.
Upon being asked by Germany what it would do in the event of a Russo-German War, France responded that it would act in its own interests and mobilized. Even Japan was in the war but didn't get too many troops mobilized. Germany was having tench warfare against France and great Britain. During the holidays in the first year of the war they had a cease fire in the holiday spirit because they thought the war wouldn't last long. America joined the war only to help great Britain which president Wilson had good relationship with. they won the war and a peace treaty was established.

Film lesson: "Mountains of the Moon"

n Global History class, we recently just watched the documentary film, "Mountains of the Moon." The film was about the Europeans' exploration of South Africa and their search of the source of the Nile. During their quest, they faced various hardships and conflicts. Richard Burton and John Speke lead the group of people for several days through Africa. They faced long hot days in the deserts, and rocky roads with scarce food and water. During the night and day, they had to be careful of the wild animals that wondered in Africa and unknown insects that might cause infection or disease. These Europeans were also stopped many times by Africans tribes with threatening spears. To survive in the depths of Africa, they had to resist from any conflicts that would scar their journey.
Then finally Richard Burton, John Speke, and their crew found the source of the Nile. Its the third largest lake in the world and they named it Lake Victoria. At the time, that was the Queen of Britain's first name, so they named their discovery after her, and the name stuck till this day, Lake Victoria. People might think that it's strange that its name Lake Victoria because hundreds of people who lived in Africa had already knew of this lake and its existance, so why do these Europeans come out of no where and get to chose the name of it.
The Europeans went into Africa and had the advantage of advanced technology. They had guns while Africans had spears. They also had scientific tools such as microscopes and telescopes. African have never seen people of white colored skin before, or had they seen the goods they began along with them.
Over time, Europeans conquered Africa. It was easy to conquer because of the knowledge that Africans had on modern technology. Europeans soon invent the machine gun and took control. Africans were powerless with their spears against the Europeans.

Karl Marx and Communism

Karl Marx was a German whos ideas made a change in history. Karl Marx didnt like what he was seeing at the industrial revolution. The system of it and especially child labor, he says that they were all controled by religion. He brainstormed all of his ideas together and came to a conclusion that there are more workers than lanlords and bosses. This means that since there are more workers than owners then the workers are the ones who should control everything.

Thats when Karl brought communism. Communism is when the state is as one and everybody shares there wealth and social high classes. People started printing out these ideas and started handing it out on the street. People liked it and started getting interested. Today there are some communist places like cuba and north korea, (Russia used to be).

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx was a German-Jew who's ideas made a difference in Russia. His ideas were known as Communism. He thought that workers should control the factories instead of the landlords. Also he did not like the harsh and bad treatment/conditions that workers worked in and he thought they should stand up for themselves and unite.
Marx wrote that wealth should be distributed "from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." Even though Karl Marx died in 1833, this ideals spread. Marx's theory was the Marxist Dialectic, and believed that change would come through revolution. He wanted social change but they did not have the power. Karl Marx was a major influence on workers movements.

Simon Bolivar and Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar helped a lot of countries gain their independence. And to gain the rights that they diserved. Simon Bolivar thought that Venezuela deserved their liberty. He even wrote his famous Cartagena Manifesto in which he argued that New Granada should help liberate Venezuela. Simon Bolivar had assistence from New Granada and in 1813 he invaded Venezuela. He freed Venezuela and was proclaimed "LIBERTADOR" by the people. It took him about 10 years to be able to accomplish this goal. He gave Ecuador, Peru, Haiti, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, and Bolivia their independence.
Simon Bolivar is so famous because if it wasnt for him most of these countries wouldnt even be considered countries they would just be a piece of land. Probably owned by someone of just left alone. He gave these countries their independence and fought for their rights. Thats why he was proclaimed "LIBERTADOR" meaning the person who gave them their liberty.
The reason why they namesd a country after Simon Bolivar was because he gave the country their independence and their liberty. He fought for what he thought was correct . His army won a victory over the spaniards at auacucho in 1824 which needed Spanish power in South America. Upper Peru became a separate state named Bolivia in Bolivars honor in 1825. The constitution, which he drew up for Bolivia, is one of his most important political pronouncements.
Simon Bolivar helped defeat the Spanish army at Carabobo in Venezuela on JUne 24, 1821. The reason why he helped crush them its because they had power over all the countries that he was trying to help. And try to give their liberty and independence too.

The French Revolution

1) Many people where critical in France because nothing was fair. Everything had to do with who was higher then the other. They were trying to out vote the 3rd estate since they were regular civilians. And they begged that they wouldnt do so. The king and the first two estates would have nothing of that so delegates from the third estate got together and created the National Assembly. They hoped that the National Assembly could pass new laws and reforms in the name of the French people.

2) A French peasent mite have grumbled that things werent fair and that they hated these people.

3) I think this picture is trying to say that one day all the unfair treatment will stop and they will all be treated equally and there will be food and the prices will go down and they will all be able to eat and be healthy.

4) A French peasant had it bad. Because one they didnt have enough to survive off of. And mostly because the King would still take money from there not a little but a little knowing their situation.

5) Yes it shows how messed up their lifes really were. ANd how messed up the King was.

6) The peasents of France would agree because they are the ones getting treated unfairly. And everyone has their rights and these people were just selfish and thought about what was benefiting them.

7) The Wealthy Nobles would be against them. And they banned it because there group was leading everything.
